Why I Started Love Lactation -and how I support your Family.

Heather’s journey—from WIC to IBCLC—and how lived experience guides calm, clear feeding support from prenatal to postpartum.

By Heather Cordova, IBCLC -Serving Elizabeth, Castle Rock, Parker, Highlands Ranch, Castle Pines, Lone Tree.

My journey began while working at WIC, surrounded by women who believed families deserve real, hands‑on help with infant feeding and that breastfeeding is best. I watched counselors sit with new parents through the messy middle—those fragile hours when latch is tricky, milk is finding its rhythm, and everyone needs someone calm at their side.

Then my first child was born with significant special needs and complex feeding challenges. Overnight, I became the parent in the chair—counting breaths, watching weight, learning to read tiny cues. Having access to skilled, compassionate professionals who listened to my goals and taught me step‑by‑step changed everything. It planted a question I couldn’t let go of: How can I give other families the kind of support that carried me?

That question led me deeper into lactation education and, ultimately, to certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). For more than three decades, I've served families—and for fifteen years as an IBCLC—I’ve blended lived experience with evidence-based care. Love Lactation, LLC is the result: judgment‑free guidance that meets you where you are, whether your path is exclusive breastfeeding/chestfeeding, combo feeding, or pumping.

What you can expect with me

  • Judgment‑free care: Options, not pressure; your goals at the center.

  • Hands‑on teaching: We’ll fine‑tune latch and positioning, decode feeding cues, and make small adjustments that bring big relief.

  • Personalized plans: You’ll leave with a written plan you can actually follow—clear steps, when to follow up, and who else may help.

  • Team coordination: I collaborate with pediatricians, ENTs, and body‑work specialists when needed.

How I support families

  • Prenatal visits to set you up for a confident start: what’s normal in the first 48 hours, how partners can help, and a simple feeding roadmap.

  • Postpartum consults for latch troubleshooting, nipple pain, gassiness/reflux, flow control, and bottle/breast transitions.

  • Flange fitting & pumping plans (including return‑to‑work strategies) so you can protect supply and time.

  • Follow‑up & care plans with weight‑tracking tables and check‑ins.

The moments that matter most

Some of the most meaningful wins are quiet: a deeper latch, easier transfer, softer shoulders, a longer exhale. I’ve been the parent hoping for those moments—and the clinician helping them happen. Both perspectives shape my care, every visit.

My community

I’m proud to support families in Elizabeth, Castle Rock, Parker, Lone Tree, Castle Pines, Highlands Ranch, Littleton, and nearby Colorado communities. If you’re just outside this area, reach out—I often travel.

Ready when you are

If you’re expecting, consider scheduling a Prenatal Lactation Visit. If you’re in the thick of postpartum and something feels off—pain, shallow latch, clicking, or a baby who seems uncomfortable—let’s troubleshoot together.
